I am currently trying to find time to prepare for Vacation Bible School next week. I am overwhelmed by all I have to do by then. Should be good posts next week, though.

Ch-Ch-Changes
This is interesting from Business Week Online. I contemplate working from home a lot. I love the ability to work remotely. But there is something to be said for face time in building relationships, which is still a big part of the work world. And I'm not just talking about business relationships. We (or at least I) need to keep practicing relationship skills. It's Biblical too: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17) Finding the balance would be key.

I was self-employed for a couple of years. I lived in a 100 year old saltbox farmhouse on an 80- acre farm 5 miles from the nearest paved road. I loved the peace and quiet, natural beauty, flexible schedule and measuring the passing of seasons by the crops in the fields and the migration of the birds. But I also remember grossly underestimated the "lonliness factor." It was especially tough in the winter when, depending on snow totals, I often did not come in contact with another human being for 4 or 5 days at a time. Grocery store cashiers and laundry mat clerks gave me funny looks when I would try to strike up freindly conversations with them!
The passage from Proverbs was well chosen. I've always believed that whenever in my life I find myself not involved in a passionate, spiritually fulfilling relationship with a significant other I am not a complete person, but rather, only half of my true self. Thanks for sharing.
